About Me
Welcome aboard! I am thrilled to be your student's teacher this year. I was born in a small farming town in Iowa, and attended public school until 10th grade. From there, I homeschooled, using Abeka as my curriculum. I attended Pensacola Christian College and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Music Education: Keyboard. Although my undergraduate degree was music, I was required to create several lesson plans, bulletin boards, and complete a teaching internship through Pensacola Christian Academy. I learned several valuable skills in working with large groups of children as well as one-on-one instruction. I also had the opportunity to work for Abeka Academy, and was an Elementary grader for two years. I have graded hundreds of paperwork from students all across the world. All to say, education is my passion! In January of 2025, I began my Master's of Science Degree in Educational Leadership from Pensacola Christian College. I am almost halfway through my degree, and will finish in August of 2026. My goal is to continue to learn to better serve my students and become a better teacher.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my husband, Lucas, and my pets. We have a mini blue heeler named Smokey and a fish named Leroy (that survived a 20 hour car ride from Michigan...!) I love to read, usually historical fiction, classics, and mysteries. I also teach piano lessons and like to play around on different instruments. I am an avid coffee drinker in the morning and I drink a cup of chamomile tea in the evening. Occasionally, I will play video games with my husband, or watch a show. For now, my evenings are spent grading and being a student myself.
If you see me out and about, say hello! Or, if you want to see me play one of my many instruments, come see me at Green River Bible Baptist Church- we'd love to have you! :)
I am praying for you, and thank you for your dedication to Christian education.
In Christ,
Mrs. Whiteside
